Valemount to Jasper

Nice easy drive today only 120km. We filled the car with petrol and headed off for jasper.
we stopped at mount Robinson and took some pics of this snow cover mountain, then carried on.

We crossed in to Alberta and everything changes
signs looked different and everything also has french on it.
We then stopped at the park entrance and paid the entry fee $57 for three days.
Then on to Jasper, supermarket for lunch and then out of town to look at Maligne lake and also the Maligne Canyon. We stopped at the canyon and looked at how the river has cut into the ground, was deep with lots of water.
We carried on up to the lakes starting with the Medicine Lake, this lake level goes up and down by 20 metres over the year.
Half way along the lake we found lots of people stopped looking at something so stopped and looked as well.
Rewarded big time, a mother bear and her two cubs heading down to the water, got lots of pictures, was about 25 people taking pictures as well.

We then carried on to Maligne lake, the lake was nice, and heaps of people around, we looked at doing the boat trip to the other end of the lake but not for $48 each, so we looked around and got a book from the gift shop. We headed back down the road and stopped at one of the lower bridges from the Maligne canyon.
We then went and checked into the hotel and figured out what our need trip was too.

We decided to go to the Athabasca Fall, we had seen the pictures but seeing it was another thing all together, the volume and colour of the water was amazing, the picture does not do it any justice at all. We walked around the different look outs and took lots of pictures, there where signs everywhere explaining all of the features that you could see around the falls. We looked at the map we had to the falls and took the back road to it thinking that was the only road, narrow and lts of pot holes, when we got to the falls it was right next to the main road. Never Mind.

On the way back to town we went up some roads the first one was to a ski area but the road was closed about half way up. So back down the road and to the other road, this was a small narrow and lots more pot holes and seemed to go on for ages. there seemed to be heaps of cars coming from this road so got us interested in where it went to. It had a sign that was look out but it seemed to head down into a valley, and close to a big mountain.
We finally got to the end of the road and discovered that it was at the botten of a huge mountain called Mount Edith Cavell and the angel gracier

There would have been about 30 cars in the car park as we decided to go for a walk over the small hill in front and ended up doing the loop track that went up and along the side of the old glacier and up to the lake at the bottem of the glacier. we walked up to the edge of the lake and took some pictures before heading back down the valley before the mosquitoes got to us.
Nice easy walk back to the car by now it was 7.30 and more people were still arriving to look at the glacier. We then got to drive all the way back down the road with all the pot holes, and headed back into town.
We stopped at the Gondala and had a look before going shopping for tomorrows lunch and something for dinner
